Michael Gamble and especially Alison were kind helpful and very professional. They helped the whole family get through a very difficult time when my husband died and I am extremely grateful to them

In April 2008, Michael Gamble Funeral Directors starting trading out of small premises in London Road, Stroud for the first time. The business went from strength to strength and after only 4 years at London Road, it was obvious that we would have to move into bigger premises to accommodate the growing number of staff and, most importantly, the needs of the families that we were serving. So in August 2012 we moved lock, stock and barrel into our present premises.
Station House is a beautiful Grade II listed Victorian detached house in the heart of Stroud. Built c.1883 – 1901 to the Great Western Railway’s Standard Class ‘C’ house design. This former Station Master’s House is a rare, virtually intact survival of a standard class ‘C’ house for the Great Western Railway, dating from the 1880’s. The house is a robust building of historic interest in its connection with the GWR.
And we now have an additional premises at 50 High Street, Stonehouse where we continue our commitment to providing the highest level of bereavement care.
Over 17 years of distinguished service has given us quiet confidence in our ability to offer the very best care and attention. We constantly strive to provide a service of high standard and pushed ever onwards by the belief that to look after someone who has died is a unique honour.

Funeral Director
Alison has been in the funeral industry since June 2013, joining us in August 2018. Prior to her work in the funeral industry, she worked in both the NHS and estate agency. She loves helping families plan the perfect funeral for their loved ones. Funerals are so much more personal now than they have ever been and it’s wonderful to see the character of the person who has died be depicted in their funeral service. Helping a family arrange a funeral is a very rewarding role and she puts every effort in to ensuring that everything is how the family want it to be. Every family that Alison looks after is important to her and she takes great pride in her role as a Funeral Director.
Alison volunteers for Sunflowers Suicide Support, based in Stonehouse and supports their fundraising activities. She also works alongside the Stonehouse and District Royal British Legion, supporting them with Remembrance Sunday and providing the order of service each year. She became a member of the RBL in 2024.
In her spare time, Alison enjoys time with her family, going to music concerts, meeting with friends, shopping and reading. She and her husband also enjoy walking their two dogs in the surrounding countryside of their home, and campervan holidays around the UK.
Senior Funeral Service Operative
Robert joined us at the beginning of December 2018, bringing with him a wealth of experience in the funeral industry. He started his funeral journey in the Midlands as a Funeral Service Operative before being promoted to a Trainee Funeral Director. He moved to Gloucestershire in 2010 and was employed as a Funeral Director in both Cheltenham and then latterly Gloucester where he ran the branch. Prior to working in the funeral industry, he was a prototype engineer in the motor trade.
For Robert, his role has always been about being a custodian of the deceased regardless of what job he has been doing. We care for the deceased. His current role allows him to bring nearly 20 years of experience to this role and share that knowledge with others. It also plays to the engineer in him. His role allows him to problem solve and use the logistical part of his brain.
Robert is a keen motorcyclist and rides daily. Any journey on a motorcycle is a good journey, especially exploring the many green lanes on his trusty Royal Enfield. When he’s not riding around on bikes, he can be found either pottering in the garden or enjoying walks with his wife and dogs.
